Technical specifications

These technical specifications apply to:

  • fiber_manual_record 1) asbestos-free friction inserts and linings BFM-T1, designed for use in clutch and brake devices of process forging and pressing equipment;
  • fiber_manual_record 2) rectangular flexible friction plates "Triboflex", manufactured to customer-specified dimensions, with necessary changes to the composite composition to ensure flexibility during bending.
  • fiber_manual_record 3) asbestos-free friction linings for brake pads and pads with installed friction linings, designed for use in brake devices and mechanisms of equipment for various purposes.

Asbestos-free friction inserts and linings, the abbreviated designation of which hereinafter shall consist of the initial letters of the product designation: "VBF" for inserts and "NBF" for linings, are manufactured from BFM-T1 press material based on aramid fiber, phenolic-rubber binder, and mineral fillers. VBF and NBF are non-toxic and fire- and explosion-safe.

Products may be manufactured to customer-specified dimensions. Information on standards used in these technical specifications is provided in Appendix No. 1.

1. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS.

1.1.

Before installation in process equipment, the working surfaces of inserts, pads, and linings shall be ground to a depth of 0.2–0.5 mm. By agreement with the customer, grinding may be performed by the pad (lining) manufacturer. Asbestos-free friction inserts (VBF), pads, and linings (NBF), and flexible plates (Triboflex) shall comply with the requirements of these technical specifications and shall be produced according to a process chart or other process documentation approved in the prescribed manner.
VBF, NBF, and Triboflex shall have a matte or glossy surface, without visible cracks, delamination, blistering, or warping. One of the working surfaces may have a sprue protrusion no more than 1 mm in height.

1.2.

The coefficient of friction shall remain stable at a level of not less than 0.44 at operating temperatures up to 400 °C (for Triboflex — up to 200 °C)

1.3.

Linear wear against cast iron SCh15 (GOST 1412-85) over 2 hours shall not exceed 0.04 mm (Triboflex — not more than 0.08)

1.4.

Hardness HRC 28–35 for VBF and NBF; Triboflex hardness — 13–18 on the Brinell scale, HB

1.5.

Density 2.2–2.5 g/cm³

1.6.

Mass increase in liquid media shall not exceed 0.1% for VBF and NBF, and not more than 0.5% for Triboflex

1.7.

Geometric dimensions and mass of VBF and NBF are given in the tables of the appendices to these technical specifications.

1.8. Packaging and marking

1.8.1.

Marking shall be applied by stamping on the face side or by affixing a tag indicating the product name and the drawing number in accordance with which it was manufactured.

1.8.2.

VBF, NBF, pads, and Triboflex shall be packed in wooden boxes per GOST 18573-86, or in corrugated cardboard boxes per GOST 9142-84 or GOST 9481-76, or in any other boxes that ensure reliable transportation. The mass of VBF, NBF, or Triboflex in one box shall not exceed 10 kg

1.8.3.

Each box shall be accompanied by a packing list indicating:

  • Name of the manufacturing enterprise or its trademark
  • Product name
  • Designation of these technical specifications
  • Batch number
  • Quantity of VBF, NBF, and Triboflex in the packing unit, pcs.
  • Date of manufacture
  • QC stamp
1.8.4.

Transport marking shall be carried out per GOST 1492-77 without applying handling symbols

1.8.5.

Raw materials shall comply with the regulatory documentation of the manufacturing enterprise

2. ACCEPTANCE RULES.

2.1.

Asbestos-free friction inserts and linings, flexible plates, and asbestos-free friction linings for brake pads shall be submitted for acceptance in batches. A batch shall consist of not more than 1,000 items of one grade accompanied by a single quality document.

2.2.

Each batch shall be submitted to the quality control department of the manufacturing enterprise for acceptance testing. For testing, 5% of items shall be selected from each batch.

2.2.1.

Every item in the batch shall be checked during manufacture for compliance with the geometric dimensions specified in the appendices; each batch of VBF, NBF, and Triboflex shall be submitted to the quality control department of the manufacturing enterprise with an attached defect report completed in the form specified below.

Only linear dimensions of products are subject to control; angular dimensions and radii of curvature are not subject to acceptance inspection, as they are ensured by the mold design and process mode.

2.3.

If test results are negative, 100% sorting of the batch shall be carried out and VBF, NBF, and Triboflex that failed inspection shall be removed from the batch. By agreement with the customer, delivery of VBF, NBF, and Triboflex with deviations from the dimensions specified in the appendices is permitted.

Each batch of VBF, NBF, and Triboflex shall be accompanied by a quality document indicating:

  • name of the manufacturing enterprise or its trademark
  • product name:
  • designation of these technical specifications:
  • batch number: number of items in the batch, pcs.;
  • number of packing units of products in the batch, pcs.
  • packing unit number:
  • date of acceptance inspection,
  • results of acceptance inspection;

The quality document shall bear the signature and stamp of the quality control department of the manufacturing enterprise.

3. TEST METHODS.

3.1.

The external appearance of products, taking into account the defect report, shall be inspected visually by comparison with a sample.

3.2.

Linear dimensions of products shall be measured with a caliper per GOST 166-89 with a scale division of 0.1 mm, or with a thickness gauge per GOST 11358-89 with a scale division of 0.1 mm.

3.3.

Packaging and marking quality shall be inspected visually.

3.5.

Hardness shall be measured by the impact-dynamic method using a TKM-359 hardness tester

3.4.

Periodic tests for compliance with physical and mechanical properties shall be conducted once per quarter on an SMT-1 type friction machine using a "shaft-plane" scheme; the coefficient of friction shall be determined at the end of testing. When determining the coefficient of friction of the pair, an inductive transducer sensor is used together with the "Kalibr 275-01" indicating instrument
